Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SayRec handles information when you use our website, including the voice recorder, optional sharing features, contact form, and analytics.

1. Browser recordings

SayRec records and encodes audio directly in your browser first. While you are recording and previewing audio, the recording exists in your browser.

If you download the MP3 file without sharing it, the file is saved to your device and is not intentionally uploaded to or stored by SayRec.

If you close or refresh the page before downloading or sharing the recording, it may be lost.

2. Optional uploads and share links

If you choose to share a recording, SayRec uploads and stores the MP3 file on our server and creates a shareable link for that recording.

Anyone with the shareable link may be able to play the recording. Share links are not intended to be a secure private storage system, so you should not upload recordings that you would not want someone else to access if the link is shared, forwarded, guessed, or otherwise discovered.

Uploaded recordings are currently kept online indefinitely unless they are removed by SayRec or deleted following a valid deletion request. This may change in the future. If a recording is important, you should download and keep your own copy.

3. Deletion credentials

When you upload a recording, SayRec creates a deletion credential associated with the recording.

SayRec stores a hashed version of the deletion credential on our server so that deletion requests can be verified without storing the plain credential in our database.

SayRec may save the plain deletion credential in your browser’s local storage. It may not be displayed to you, but it can help authenticate a later deletion request from the same browser. If you clear browser data, use a different browser, or switch devices, that saved copy may no longer be available.

4. Upload metadata

When you upload a recording, SayRec may store basic information about the upload, such as the recording’s share ID, filename, file type, file size, duration, language code, upload time, deletion status, IP address, and browser or device information.

This information is used to provide upload, sharing, deletion, security, abuse-prevention, and troubleshooting features.

5. Microphone permission

SayRec needs access to your microphone so the recorder can work. Microphone permission is handled by your browser. You can deny access or revoke permission through your browser settings.

6. Contact form

If you contact us using the contact form, we may collect the information you submit, such as your name, email address, message, category, recording share ID or link, page URL, language code, IP address, browser information, and submission time.

We use this information to read, manage, and respond to your message, including deletion requests, privacy questions, bug reports, and other support requests.

7. Cloudflare Turnstile

SayRec uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect upload and contact features from spam, abuse, and automated requests.

Cloudflare may process technical information while providing this security check, including information about your browser, device, IP address, and interaction with the challenge.

8. Google Analytics

SayRec uses Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited and how visitors interact with the website.

Google Analytics may process information such as first-party cookies, device and browser information, approximate location, and activity on the site. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses.

Google may use cookies and similar technologies to collect and store information. You can learn more from Google’s information about Google Analytics and its privacy controls.

9. Cookies and local storage

SayRec may use cookies or similar browser technologies through Google Analytics. These technologies help measure site traffic and usage.

SayRec may also use your browser’s local storage to remember uploaded recording details on your device, including share links, deletion credentials, upload times, and recording metadata.

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. You can also clear local storage, but doing so may remove saved deletion credentials and upload history from your browser.

10. Information we do not require

SayRec does not require an account, password, payment details, or profile to use the recorder.

You do not need to provide your name or email address unless you choose to contact us through the contact form.

11. Third-party services

SayRec uses third-party services to provide, protect, and understand the service, including Google Analytics and Cloudflare Turnstile. These services may process information according to their own privacy practices.

12. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information handled by SayRec, but no website, server, database, upload system, or internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Uploaded recordings are accessible to people who have the share link. You should treat a share link as something that can provide access to the recording.

13. Deleting uploaded recordings

If you want an uploaded recording removed, you may contact us. A deletion credential saved in the browser used for the upload may help us authenticate the request.

We may ask for additional information before removing a recording. We do not guarantee that we can verify every deletion request.

14. Children’s privacy

SayRec is a general-purpose tool and is not specifically directed at children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, please contact us.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.

16. Contact
